When my sisters and I were growing up our parents always had German Shepherd dogs. Often I would bring unwanted or stray cats and kittens home from school. On one occasion, in the hope of keeping them safe, I even hid some in a stable (which belonged to an Arabian Horse stud) behind our garden wall.
To no avail. Every time, no matter which dog it was, the cats (with one exception - and I think she was 'between dogs') did not survive for long. Either they were scared to death, literally - or they ran away.
Since then, I have often heard and read of close dog/cat relationships but I never believed I would witness one.
Just goes to show ....... anything can happen if you wait long enough...........................
